About Michael Robinson

Michael Robinson is an art historian, writer, qualified tourist guide and passionate amateur photographer. A lifelong interest in art, architecture, landscape and historic places has taken him throughout Britain and Europe — and considerably further afield — usually with a camera close at hand.

OpenView grew from that fascination with both photography and the way we look at places. Over many years Michael has photographed landscapes, buildings and familiar landmarks, often becoming as interested in the viewpoint as in the subject itself.

OpenView takes those original photographs and reimagines them through windows, doorways and other architectural openings. The frame becomes part of the image, creating the impression of discovering a view from somewhere unexpected — and offering a different way of seeing places that may already be familiar.

The project continues to evolve as new photographs, locations and ideas are explored. At its heart, however, OpenView remains very simple: a love of photography, a fascination with place, and the pleasure of looking at the world through a different frame.
